FAQ Dishwasher

1. How Does a Dishwasher Work?

To ensure dishes are thoroughly cleaned, the dishwasher operates based on the following principles:

  • After starting, the machine automatically fills with water.
  • The water is then heated to the appropriate temperature.
  • At the right time, the detergent dispenser opens automatically.
  • High-pressure spray arms release jets of water to remove food residues from dishes.
  • The first dirty water drainage takes place.
  • Then, hot water is sprayed again at high pressure to rinse the dishes.
  • A second drainage of dirty water follows.
  • Finally, the machine generates hot air to dry the dishes. Your utensils will be cleaned, dried, and sanitized by the end of the cycle.

2. How Should Dishes Be Arranged in the Dishwasher?

Häfele dishwashers are designed with separate racks, each intended for specific types of utensils. Users should arrange the dishes according to the instructions in the user manual for optimal performance.

Note: Correct placement ensures maximum cleaning efficiency and avoids issues such as poor cleaning or operational errors.

3. Which Wash Program Should Be Used?

Depending on the brand and model, dishwashers offer various functions and settings. However, standard dishwashers usually include the following programs:

  • Normal Wash: A standard cycle with average washing time.
  • Quick Wash: Suitable for lightly soiled dishes.
  • Intensive Wash: Ideal for heavily soiled cookware or utensils with stuck-on food.
  • Sanitize & Dry: Best for damp or baby items that need thorough drying or sterilizing.
  • Delicate Wash: Designed for fragile items like glassware, ceramics, and bottles to prevent chipping or cracking.

4. Can the Dishwasher Wash Pots, Pans, and Other Kitchenware?

Built-in dishwashers with large capacities can easily accommodate pots and pans. These machines typically have separate compartments for larger cookware. However, compact countertop dishwashers may not be suitable for large items due to limited space.

5. Do I Need to Add Detergents Every Time I Use the Dishwasher?

Yes. Salt and dishwasher-specific detergents are essential for optimal cleaning. When levels are low, the machine will alert the user to refill them. Additionally, using rinse aid or shine enhancers can improve the cleaning results—especially for glassware—and are recommended if available.

6. Is It Necessary to Use Specialized Dishwasher Detergents?

Absolutely yes. Using proper dishwasher detergent ensures effective cleaning and prevents side effects. Users should not use generic or unknown cleaning agents, as they can damage the machine, reduce performance, and pose health risks.

7. How to Properly Use a Dishwasher?

To achieve the best cleaning results, users should follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Remove leftover food from the dishes.
  • Step 2: Place dishes in the appropriate racks.
  • Step 3: Close the door, turn on the machine, and select the desired wash program.
  • Step 4: After the cycle and drying are complete, remove the utensils and store them. Don’t forget to empty the filter basket inside the machine.

With just a few simple steps, users can quickly and efficiently clean all of their dishes.
