FAQ Induction Cooktop (Electric)
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WHEN USING HÄFELE INDUCTION HOBS
Detailed Guide on How to Safely Use Häfele Induction Cooktops

1. Electrical Safety
Dedicated Circuit Breaker: Each induction hob should have its own circuit breaker to prevent overloads and short circuits. For 3-zone cooktops, use a 20A–30A breaker and at least 4mm² electrical wires. Install the breaker in an accessible location for emergency shut-off.
Stable Power Supply: Ensure a stable 220V power source. In areas with voltage fluctuation, use a voltage stabilizer to protect the control board.
Proper Socket & Grounding: Use a grounded socket to reduce the risk of electric leakage. Avoid using low-quality multi-socket adapters.
Safe Clearance: Keep at least 10 cm between the hob and the wall for ventilation. Maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm from the hob to refrigerators, ovens, or devices sensitive to heat and electromagnetic fields.
Avoid Extension Cords: Do not use extension cords or power strips due to the high power output, which can cause overheating and fire hazards.
2. Cooking Safety
Do Not Touch While Hot: After cooking, the glass surface may remain hot. Wait until the “H” residual heat indicator disappears before cleaning.
Keep Flammable Objects Away: Do not place towels, paper, plastic, or spice jars near the cooking zone, as they can catch fire due to heat or residual warmth.
Never Dry-Heat or Use Empty Cookware: Do not turn on the hob without cookware or with empty pots/pans, as this can cause damage to the glass surface or cookware.
Watch for Spills: When cooking soups or porridge, carefully monitor heat to avoid boil-overs spilling onto the control panel.
3. Child Safety
Child Lock Function:
While the hob is on, press and hold the Lock key for 3 seconds. The display will show “Lo” or a lock symbol.
To deactivate, press and hold the Lock key again for 3 seconds.
Only unlock when cooking to prevent children from accidentally touching the controls.
4. Emergency Handling
Cracked Glass While Cooking:
Turn off the hob immediately and switch off the circuit breaker.
Do not touch the surface – risk of burns or cuts.
Contact warranty service or a technician to replace the glass. Do not continue using the hob.
Burning Smell or Smoke:
Turn off the hob and unplug.
Check for food spills that may have entered the cooling fan or internal components.
If odor persists after cleaning, do not use the hob – contact technical support.
Electrical Failure (Short Circuit/Sparks):
Switch off the circuit breaker immediately.
Inspect the power cord and contact a technician or Häfele support center.
5. Extra Safety Tips
Use flat-bottomed, induction-compatible cookware with a minimum diameter of 12–14 cm for optimal efficiency and to prevent “no pot detected” errors.
Ensure that ventilation slots and cooling fans are not blocked, especially in built-in installations.
Do not drag metal pots across the glass surface – it can scratch the glass.
When moving a portable hob, always unplug and wait until it has completely cooled down.
